Business papers of Henry Adolphus London, including correspondence, contracts, engineers' reports, bills, receipts, payrolls, etc., concerning the Cape Fear and Deep River Navigation Company, which attempted to construct a waterway to transport coal from Chatham County, N.C., to Fayetteville, N.C. Also included are family papers of Henry's son, William Lord London (1838-1916), Pittsboro general merchant, as well as wills, marriage contracts, estate papers, household bills, and receipts. The volumes are primarily general merchandise account books, 1846-1866, and records of the Navigation Company, 1849-1864. Also included is W.L. London's letter book, 1883-1885, and account statements and building specifications for W.L. London and Son.
